Tens of thousands of developers decided to not pursue a license with China. They instead decided to allow Apple take their products out of the reach of Chinese gamers. According to a report from Reuters the only 74 games in the top 1500 games have been granted licenses to be sold in China and the total compliance less than 5percent.

There weren't just indie developers that refused to get an app license. Some of the games were removed from the Apple app store by big developers like Take-Two or Ubisoft. As it stands, NBA 2k and Assassin's Creed Identity can't be downloaded through the Apple app store if you're from China. Before the December 31 app purge, an additional 94,000 games had been removed the app store, which brings 2020s total loss up to 140,000 apps.

Between January 2020 and November, the gaming revenue of Apple from China totaled $13 billion. It's an increase of 14% compared to the revenues from 2019. It's not clear how the purge of apps will impact Apple's revenues over the next year, or if developers will opt to get a license to get their games back to the Chinese market.

NBA 2K's playoffs simulation moves to the next round.Fans are forced to accept the fact that sports leagues have become non-existent. Racing series on the internet have become more accessible, and live events and player tournaments such as the WNBA or NFL draft have brought more excitement.

2K has used breaks to make a game-like simulation of the playoffs for fans of basketball. Nobody knows if the NBA will be able to finish this season with real-time games, and in the midst of episodes of The Last Dance this is pretty close to get to real action.
